Country Style Pork with Beans and Sausage

Why This Recipe Works
Given the fact that they would be spending hours in the slow cooker, we knew that the beans for our country-style pork and beans recipe would have to be sturdy, and great Northern beans stood out in our tests. An overnight soak in water gave them a head start on slowly absorbing the moisture they needed to cook evenly and kept the beans from splitting open during the long cooking process. We rejected pork shoulder and pork butt for our country-style pork with beans recipe because of the lengthy preparation they required, and settled on bone-in country-style pork ribs. Leaving the meat on the bone added more flavor to the stew and kept the meat in recognizable portions.
