Ever run out of crackers, but don’t have time to run to the store? We wanted to turn everyday breads, like pita bread, flour tortillas, and even day-old bagels, into crisp crackers to accompany dips, spreads, and cheeses.
Why This Recipe Works
For our easy homemade crackers recipe, we turned pita bread, lavash, tortillas, and even thin-cut bagels into crisp crackers by brushing them with garlic and herb-infused oil and baking. A light brushing of olive oil and a dusting of spices was all that was necessary—too much oil and the crackers were oil-soaked and burnt around the edges. A moderate oven crisped the bread evenly without any excessive browning. Even at a moderate temperature, we found we got the best results when we flipped the crackers midway through.
