Buffalo chicken salad can be found on countless chain-restaurant menus across the country. Their versions typically include saccharine-sweet, soggy chicken in a gloppy, mild-flavored dressing. We thought we could do better and still make it fast enough for a busy weeknight dinner
Why This Recipe Works
To save time, we reached into the freezer section for pre-breaded chicken strips for our Buffalo chicken salad recipe. Spicy Buffalo sauce is little but Frank’s RedHot Original Sauce spiked with Tabasco sauce and tempered with brown sugar, butter, and vinegar. As for the dressing for our Buffalo chicken salad recipe, we knew that for the most balanced flavor (neither too sharp or too mild), a base of mayonnaise and sour cream was a must. A minced garlic clove and splash of white wine vinegar cut the richness and sharpened the blue cheese’s flavor.
