Easy Homemade Crackers
Ever run out of crackers, but don’t have time to run to the store? We wanted to turn everyday breads, like pita bread, flour tortillas, and even day-old bagels, into crisp crackers to accompany dips, spreads, and cheeses.
Why This Recipe Works
For our easy homemade crackers recipe, we turned pita bread, lavash, tortillas, and even thin-cut bagels into crisp crackers by brushing them with oil and baking. A light brushing of olive oil was all that was necessary—too much and the crackers were oil-soaked and burnt around the edges. A moderate oven crisped the bread evenly without any excessive browning. Even at a moderate temperature, we found we got the best results when we flipped the crackers midway through.
