The Elvis Smoothie
From Cook's Country
Fruit smoothies can provide a nutritious and refreshing start to the morning, especially in the sultry summer months. The Elvis Smoothie recipe is no exception, with the added benefit of protein from the peanut butter. We skipped the ice, which just diluted the smoothie, and used flavorful frozen fruit instead. Bananas were a must for a creamy, thick texture, and honey complemented the fruit and added extra body. Whole milk and low-fat yogurt both worked well to round out the smoothie, but nonfat yogurt produced a “gritty” texture. To make your own variations on the Elvis smoothie recipe, use any kind of frozen fruit from the supermarket. And feel free to freeze fresh fruit for a few hours if you happen to have it.

While we can’t claim that Elvis drank this smoothie, we’re certain that The King would have liked it, considering his fondness for grilled peanut butter and banana sandwiches.
