Ingredients: 1 cup, whole milk; 1 tablespoon, instant or rapid-rise yeast; 2 tablespoons, sugar; 2 cups (10 ounces), all-purpose flour; 1 3/4 teaspoons, baking powder; 1/2 teaspoon, salt; 2 tablespoons, unsalted butter, melted; 1 tablespoon, vegetable oil; 3 pounds, 85 percent lean ground beef; 1 small head, green cabbage, cored and chopped fine (8 cups); 2 , onions, chopped fine; , Salt and pepper; 1 tablespoon, all-purpose flour; 6 ounces, American cheese, chopped; 2 tablespoons, yellow mustard; 1 large, egg beaten with 1 tablespoon water

Bierocks—handheld buns filled with beef, cabbage, and cheese—are definitely tasty, but they take a long time to make. We wanted the same great flavors in casserole form.
