While it's a lot easier to put together a crumb crust than to roll out traditional pie dough, that doesn't mean that crumb crusts are problem-free. The crust can be too crumbly and loose, and it often sticks to everything but the pie plate. Here's how to make even, mess-free crumb crusts every time.

1. DISTRIBUTE & PRESS

1. DISTRIBUTE & PRESS: Use your hands to distribute the crumbs in an even layer over the bottom and up the sides of the pie plate. Press down lightly.

2. SMOOTH INTO PAN

2. SMOOTH INTO PAN: Place a piece of plastic wrap on top of the crust, then run the back of a dinner spoon over the crumbs, smoothing them into the bottom, curves, and sides of the pan.
